Young People’s Hub
This space is just for you — to help you feel informed, supported, and settled in. Whether you’re new to one of our homes or just want to know more, you’ll find everything from your rights and daily life to who you can talk to if you need help.

What is a Children’s Home?
A children’s home is a safe place where young people live when they can’t stay at home for a while.
Here’s what that means for you:
-
🛌 You’ll have your own bedroom and space to relax
-
🧑🤝🧑 There are adults (called support workers) who are there to help, care, and listen
-
📚 You’ll get support with school, hobbies, and life goals
-
🎲 There are rules, but also lots of chances to have fun and try new things
-
❤️ We’ll help you stay connected with your family, friends, or the people who matter to you
-
🗣 You’ll have a say in your care and in the choices that affect you
💬 Everyone’s experience is different — but you’ll always be treated with respect, kindness, and honesty.

Your Rights

When you live in a children’s home, you still have rights—just like everyone else. These rights are here to keep you safe, respected, and supported.
Here are some of your key rights:
-
🗣 To be listened to – Your voice matters, and your opinions should be taken seriously
-
🏠 To feel safe – You have the right to feel protected and cared for at all times
-
🧍♂️ To be treated with respect – No one should ever make you feel small, ashamed, or unheard
-
🧑⚕️ To get help with your mental and physical health – Support is here for you when you need it
-
📚 To go to school or learn in a way that works for you – Education is your right
-
🧑⚖️ To understand and be involved in decisions about your care – You should know what’s going on and be part of the conversation
-
📞 To stay in touch with people who are important to you – Family, friends, whoever matters to you
💡 If you ever feel unsure about your rights or think something’s not okay, you can always talk to a trusted adult—or contact an advocate to help speak up for you.
Things You Might Want to Know
Living in a children’s home can be a big change — it’s totally okay to have questions! Here are some answers to things you might be wondering:
❓ Can I still see my family and friends?
Yes! If it’s safe and part of your plan, we’ll help you stay in contact with people who are important to you.
❓ Will I still go to school?
Absolutely. School is really important, and we’ll support you with whatever you need to keep learning and reaching your goals.
❓ What if I don’t like something or I’m unhappy?
You can always talk to a support worker, your social worker, or someone you trust. Your voice matters and we’ll listen.
❓ Can I choose how my room looks?
Yes, you can help decorate your room to make it feel like yours — posters, bedding, soft toys — we want you to feel at home.
❓ What if I feel nervous or scared?
That’s totally normal. We’re here to help you feel safe and settled. You can always ask questions or talk about how you’re feeling.
